Cari, zozzi adoratori della Musica del Diavolo.
C’è un argomento che mi sembra non sia mai stato sviscerato molto in questa sede (ma essendo un utente relativamente giovane del Forum potrei sbagliarmi, eh…) e per il quale non trovo thread esistenti con la funzione “cerca”, ossia quello dei testi delle canzoni (della loro importanza, della loro bellezza).
Ci sono dei brani che apprezzate particolarmente più per le parole, che per gli assoli al fulmicotone?
O che rappresentano la sintesi perfetta di musica e parole?
Ci sono dei testi in cui vi siete immedesimati, che vi hanno fatto ridere, che vi hanno fatto sentire imbattibili, che vi hanno commosso, che vi sono sembrati scritti per voi?...

Io parto con due brani, le cui “lyrics” mi hanno sempre fatto venire i brividi:
- “SUBDIVISION” dei RUSH (per totale immedesimazione della mia sofferenza da adolescente non allineato/sfigato)
- “I” dei Black Sabbath (perché racconta il mio lato più oscuro)

Entrambi i brani sono di due gruppi che idolatro.
Musica e testi sono praticamente perfetti, senza che uno predomini sull'altro.
Comincio con questi e ascolto voi. Poi, ogni tanto ne posto qualcun altro.

Ammetto di essere un ignorante in materia...mi limiterò a leggervi e a piangere

Senza analizzare e andare nello specifici ora dico la maggior parte dei testi dei BS con Ozzy.
Poi la canzone perfect strangers dei DP

Devo dire anche che dovrei comprarmi gli occhiali da 50enne perché,oltre ai cd scritti alla cazzo di cane,faccio fatica a leggere.

Per me è facile: non conoscendo quasi per nulla l'Inglese, poiché non l'ho mai studiato a scuola, e quel quasi per nulla vuol dire che lo smozzico se vado all'estero ai fini di una pura sopravvivenza e che se leggo periodi semplici riesco a beccare al massimo un senso di massima, ai testi non faccio praticamente caso, e ascolto le parti vocali né più e ne meno che se fossero un altro strumento.

All'inizio avevo pensato di inserire il video dei brani oppure testo con traduzione a fianco (molto in stile "I Classici Bompiani"
Avevo preferito evitare per non essere più pesante che mai...
Però, visto che alcuni masticano meno l'inglese, posso provarci.

Comunque più che ispirata è proprio il testo del poema musicato.

Questa canzone è una delle poche cose al mondo in grado di rilassarmi veramente.
Racconta l'inspiegabile, la percezione della "differenza".
Una sensazione diversa per tutti eppure universale.

Bella discussione, ovviamente ne avrei a decine da citare
Sarà banale, ma per cominciare parto con il tema più abusato: questa è una delle migliori canzoni d'amore mai scritte.

Lo so la mente vuole
ma il labbro inerte non sa dire niente

Per me i testi sono importanti quanto la musica.

Uno dei testi piu' belli per me rimane questo:

Adoro in particolar modo i testi dei Flogging Molly: molto personali e toccanti, che contrastano con la musica.
Ad esempio "The likes of you again" dove parla al papa' morto:

Poi adoro particolarmente i testi dei TooL, che hanno spesso un secondo taglio, o sono ironici fino all'estremo (come Stinkfist ), oppure mi piacciono certi passagi di Patton, ma solo perche' riesce a cantarli in un modo tutto particolare oppure con genialate come "Land of sunshine" scritta usando solamente frasi prese dai biscotti della fortuna e menu' dei ristoranti cinesi...

Mai prestata molta attenzione, per usare un eufemismo, ai testi.

A volte è un enorme vantaggio, vista la banalità/scemenza di alcuni testi.

Anche in questo caso, la bellezza e la profondità di parole e musica si equivalgono.
Uno dei miei brani preferiti di sempre.

A proposito di Iron e pezzi lunghi, temo che in molti non siano stati nelle condizioni di godersi appieno l'assoluta bellezza di Empire of The Clouds, che per quanto mi riguarda è una delle cose migliori mai scritte e composte dai nostri.
La commistione di musica e parole racconta in maniera egregia una storia che personalmente ignoravo e riesce davvero a far respirare l'epica grandiosità, l'incombere della minaccia, la triste tragedia finale.
